Good free parking for self-contained vehicles. Not bothered by trucks using engine brakes and any that do it's because they have to. And only tooting local was at 8.15am. Everyone parks sideways so it is all a bit sloping. Nice clean toilets - long drops- that apparently are cleaned daily now. Nice outlook although it is a busy highway intersection.

Positives: a lot of space for everyone. Free camping. Closest freedom camping spot outside of Wanaka. Negatives: Toilet only gets cleaned once a week (as per signage) & the passing trucks use their engine brakes all the way past (right next to the campground) starting at 5am. Bring ear plugs!

Not the prettiest of spots, just a large gravel area with a view of the hills in the distance.

Absolutely spacious! More than 20 campervans/motorhomes freedom camped here at night. It's the nearest freedom camp spot to Wanaka. There are two portable loos. Have to be self-contained to stay here. Please do be respectful when you come in a large group and minimise any sort of noise or sounds by 8pm. There was a group of backpackers laughing and talking so loud before bed time. We were at the end of the lane and we could hear them. Imagine the others sleeping beside them...

Plenty of space to park for the night, but it's pretty loud when big trucks drive by. Just a gravel lot next to the highway. Wouldn't want to spend much time here but it's convenient to get to Wanaka. Portable toilets were clean.

Great place to stop for a break

No facilities and lorry drivers with a grudge against campers honking at regular intervals throughout the night.
