Excellent range. Well run. Cheers to all the range officers volunteering, and providing their great firearms knowledge. (particularly Dave). Thanks for help with sighting in my new scope. Dave is awesome

Very important for any new members like me, DO NOT TRUST GOOGLE MAP or it will lead you to another private road with a gate no one attending. Set your GPS to "Burnside Equestrian Centre", then go further into Forestary Road till the end. You will see the gate. Very important experience, if you think you are there, but can not find other people, you may be waiting at a wrong gate. Don't wait alone.

Good range. Thank you to the range officers who volunteer your time. The Taupo deer stalkers range is much better though, due to the way better flexible access. The one down side of the riverhead range is the very rigid access restrictions.

On the yearly calendar, the PDF it says range open to the public. Got there on Sunday said they changed it for NZDA members only. Asks the range master if he would make an exception due to the error on their page he said no. When I mentioned I had tried to contact them on Friday to confirm if the range was open they said sorry no one answered because the person is away on leave. Thought the NZDA would be more understanding but obviously its all about their club and their members and not the sport! Hope Auckland council is not subsidising this range as it seems it belongs to them and stuff any other Aucklanders. Was interested in joining NZDA as I am a keen hunter and hunt just about every month time permitting but going by the range masters attitude it has put me off, not interested at all!
