New years day... My son went to pick up his baby, as their web page states they were open 9-10am and 4-5pm. Get there and the older lady says.... Nope you can't have your dog back today, come back tomorrow, we having a day off today! My son rings me in a state cos they can't have their baby for another night. And gets me involved (mum). I go there and get same deal. So I state what her website states for new years day. I was just within that time frame. Still a firm no, you can't have your dog back today. Come back tomorrow and I'll let u have her then. So I say, I'm calling police. She said great do that. 3 unnecessary calls to police and she finally decided that I am allowed to pay the bill and take my son's dog away. NEVER EVER HAVE I HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. NEVER EVER WILL I EVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO TAKE THEIR BABY TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!!!!! Owner changed her mind 3x on wether she was going to give me the dog today. I told her I'm not leaving here without her!!
Paid as directed by the owner (she is NOT the lady you meet btw we've never seen her there) in advance 20 dollars a day (as long as we supply the pet food which we did) and took our dog out a week before the end due to lack of exercising (which they told us was not that much but we were a bit sad to see all the dogs inside their cage every time we went to visit) and they only offered refund of 10 dollars lol. That aside the actual employees are super friendly and obviously care about dogs but they clearly run a FARM first and kennel on the side. Good for short stay. Definitely not long stay though...VERY expensive when compared to other kennels.
My dog first started staying at the dog house as a puppy. She really enjoys going there and the staff are loving and caring toward all the dogs. Highly recommend this wonderful team
W have our german shepherd at the the Dog House. She had been there for 6weeks.she is so well looked after by all there.have had dogs boarding there fo Years they are the best.and i have everyfaith in glenyse and her awesome staff

Rang to book my dogs in about two weeks ago, to confirm we had to make a deposit into their bank account, but when I had spoken to my husband, that same day he’d already asked someone to house-sit/dog-sit. I asked him to cancel with the kennels but he hadn’t got around to it (cue eye roll ). I was called this morning about whether we were still interested. I explained the situation and apologised. The lady responded with “It would’ve been nice to know.” Then hung up the phone. I totally understand the frustration and we were in the wrong for not ringing straight away but equally, I will not be booking the pups in in the future due to the way I was spoken to. I cannot comment on the facilities as our dogs are yet to stay, only the manners. Once again, we should’ve rang as soon as possible and I take full responsibility for that.
Had a tour round and it’s so clean! The best kennels I’ve seen in Southland. The young girl- I think her name was Katy- that showed me round was a delight. They truly care for the dogs here.
