Matahi Spit Reserve is a strip of land just off Matahi rd between the Matahi lagoon and lake Rotoma. Awesome spot to have a swim and cool off - the water is super clear. There's a public toilet at the top of the road and just after that a boat-ramp which is surrounded by a weed cordon (presumably to help stop the spread of catfish). A bit further along there is a shelter with bins and a barbeque. A playground for kids is situated further down the spit with the usual equipment. The reserve is intended for day-use only, no camping is allowed (signs posted).

Beautiful setting for a relax, swim, fishing, jetski or photo shoot...back way from kawerau into okere falls...recommended stop of to recouoe from a long journey or just chill for an hour or 2 or the day
