Very interesting and informative tour. Learnt a lot about the history of New Zealand and how printing was established. Lovely gardens with many old established fruit trees. Gift shop has lots of great little gift ideas.

To really experience this museum you must take a tour, which run 5 times daily. Our guide, Kirsty was very knowledgable about local history but where she really excelled was in her description of early printing techniques and leather production. In fact leather is still made at the museum using cow’s urine and local bark, and all the guides are expert in this. It is possible to see the gardens and a small part of the museum without a tour if the tours are all full.

Fantastic place. Looks well maintained. But I don't think kiwis should have to pay to go inside!... we own it.
