Great place for coffee or even if you want to eat some great food. The oat flat white is awesome and their tea has an unique taste. I like the design of The Origin its very modern and you can see they put a lot of work into it. It’s also very quiet if you like to have a tea and study for a while. Staff is very friendly, Andy is awesome, highly skilled and always helpful. Highly recommended place!!!

A really good place to have some tea with light food. The atmosphere is nice and clean. Staff are so friendly and considerate. I ordered a wrap of veggies and hummus, which tasted delicious with layers of flavour. Highly recommend this place if you want to have something fresh.

Just had good coffees followed by the best burger I have eaten all year. I love my burgers, epically beef burgers but this vegan one ticked all the boxes. Thanks

Stopped in one Sunday morning with friends when visiting Christchurch. Nice people and great tea. The slice of cake I had was fruity, and not too sweet as can often be the case.

I really wanted to like The Origin after waiting over a year since I first heard about this cafe, unfortunately after my experience this morning, that isn't the case. I arranged to meet a friend there as a he is leaving the city permanently so it was a going-away get-together. We were guided by the different speciality coffee on offer - great start! We placed our meal and sat, having kōrero while waiting for our meals. Our coffee came through quicksmart! So we happily waited for our meal, whilst conversing and enjoying our beverages. About half an hour in, I was slightly jilted when I saw the customers in line after us, be served their meals and drinks (a group of 4). I mentioned to my friend that the group who ordered after us, now had their meals and so he went up to ask. He came back saying 5 minutes. Another 10-15 minutes pass, and by this time, I prompted my friend suggesting that we go. So we approached staff and discuss our situation, they ask if we can wait another 5 or takeaway. By this stage, it was approximately 50 minutes after having placed our breakfast order and I said that my preference was to just get my money back. They looked disappointed and upset, but apologised and didn't hesitate to give us a refund. This is one of the reasons I'm giving them 2 stars and not 1, is for the apology and refund. Nice esthetic and ethics/values, just an absolute shame about the service of food.

Absolutely stunning coffee, great to see an actual specialty coffee shop in New Zealand! Their drip coffee is amazing. Give one of their roasts a go

Went for breakfast this morning, beautiful set up, however extremely under staffed. Had to wait nearly 35 mins for breakfast and when it was brought to us it was almost thrown on the table that my knife fell off the table onto the floor, luckily I caught it. Not a word from the waitress such as ....enjoy your meal, etc. Need to work on customer service lady, won't be returning. Meal was also very bland .

Definately the place to go for great coffee. No diary options so recommend oak milk if you don't prefer another non diary milk option. Nice quiet interior space to chill out a catch up with friends too. Must try for coffee lovers!
