Good for kids
Interesting history as a refuge for settler woman and children under siege by local Maaori in 1864 . Memorial elected by grateful descendents

Interesting historical site.Good view of the estuary from here.
Not well signposted and hard to find entrance.
A little unloved area with some nearby construction going on made site access between all the areas a lil annoying. A neglected memorial. The 5 stars are for the men.
Great place to take the grandkids and show them history
Great place to relax the greenhouse is awesome as well
nice peaceful place to get away from the busy day!
Fascinating history but as was the case in 1940 only records the pakeha narrative.one has to ask was it constant aggression and attempts to grab land by fair means or foul that created the situation. Perhaps a plaque facing the existing one should be erected in 2040 recording the Maori narrative. They can then stare each other down.
