Took my son in to ED as he has been up for 3 hours into the night and could not get him settled, sat in the ED for 2.5 hours before giving up and just leaving at 3 in the morning with a severely overstimulated 3 year old. A suggestion to go home would have been appreciated and I would have honestly been on my knees begging for that amount of mercy which would honestly have been deemed humane

Great staff from 1st day till last....food is hospital standard but was ok to eat...lol.. nurses were carrying and professional and hard working and friendly..... Doctors always put it to me straight. were also friendly and extremely professional and gave me choices ... but end of day people you'd be mad not to follow there professional opinion.... support staff were friendly..... good place too come when life puts a spanner in ya works... thank you tauranga hospital

Had another bad experience in ED with severe side pain! I was brought in via ambulance as my observations were not good from the ambulance team! The nursing staff made me feel guilty for being there because their were other people way worse off than myself! If you're looking for a bad & I don't give a f*** experience....ED will definitely give you that! Complaint has been forwarded.

I really don't know where to begin, the experience was so awful. The staff were lovely but the system is SO bad. So archaic, so understaffed and the ED too small for the growing Tauranga population. I have been told there is an 'Old boys' type of management. And a toxic management. Well I would say it is time for a major change. I was referred by my GP, who had rung through first to make sure someone could see me, I was in considerable pain. But on arrival you are put on the list with all the walk -ins. I was told you only jump the list if you are dying. I was encouraged to write this review by a nurse. We were in ED for 9.5 hrs, it was 7 hrs before I was seen.

I brought my partner to the A&E, he was clearly in severe pain and had been struggling all day. We waited hours to be seen before a nurse named Kay took us to get some tests done. I thought she was very rude when she spoke to us and had absolutely no empathy for my partner at all. When I tried to talk to her and ask questions she was very short and cut me off, it seemed like she had no time for us and we were just another number to her. She didn’t explain anything clearly and we were both left confused as to what was going on. We ended up leaving after hours of waiting as nobody checked in with us and we felt forgotten and my partner said he would rather struggle at home than remain in that environment where the staff were rude and uncaring. I understand that this department is super busy but it would’ve been nice to feel more cared for.

What an amazing first time experience in a new country giving birth for the second time. I was so happy to receive the best care from the maternity ward. The nurses were all very positive, helpful and caring. They assisted me in a dignified manner from before I went into theater for my c-section right through to the last day in the ward. I could distinctly tell the difference between my first birth experience and my second one and by far this was the best experience! Thank you for making me feel so special and for showing me that there are truly people out there who are passionate about what they do. I appreciate you!! I do however feel that the food offered to patients was not as nutritious as I would have thought it would be, especially for breastfeeding moms. Perhaps this could be improved a bit. Hospital food is generally not meant to be very tasty, but I do believe it should be nutritious at least.

There was no parking space in the hospital, so I drove around for 30 minutes. You can't park in front of another ward even though you're in the same hospital. The hospital staff never gives in. If you have an urgent young child patient and there is only one driver, I wonder what to do. People are stingy and inconsiderate of each other. It's one of the problems in Tauranga. The population of Tauranga is growing and the hospital parking problem needs to be improved quickly.

I cannot express my experience here well enough. The Doctors and nurses of ward 3B were outstanding and professional. I have been to several different hospitals for numerous procedures and I’ve got to say that Tauranga was the best so far. Big shout out to Bex, Jess and Daniel (amongst the rest of the incredible nurses - sorry just having trouble remembering names) you made my stay just that little more pain free. I have huge respect for the staff that was in my care for the duration of my stay. And YES the food was great!!
