This was our first visit to The Herb Farm.. we were looking for a cafe this morning well away from main shops. Google suggested this cafe. Highly impressed, I had the French Toast. Visually I thought it might be sickly sweet but it was anything but. Food was beautiful. Presentation awesome. Thanks will visit again.

My husband and I decided to go with our Auckland guests out for lunch today, Sunday, and we were very disappointed with the poor service. We were waiting for over one hour for our lunch so asked where our meals were and we were told “about five minutes”. However, it was more than a further twenty minutes before three of our meals arrived and then consequently had to wait another five minutes before the fourth meal came. We were offered a free coffee each, but when that arrived, it was barely warm enough. The food was satisfactory, but after such a long wait, we had lost our enthusiasm.

This was our second visit in approx 5 months. The last time it was busy, but we found a spot and the food was pretty good and we enjoyed our little walk around the premises. This time, we were left absolutely disappointed. I do understand that the Easter Egg hunt made the place extremely busy. When we got to the counter after a good 10 minutes, we asked if we there was a table of two available, were given two menus and asked to have a seat and the young woman working the counter would come and take our order shortly. We waited patiently for 15 to 20 minutes, then my partner went back to the counter and asked if he could order there. The same woman told him she is busy working ar the counter and he wasn't wuite sure what to do. He came back and we watched her ficing and serving two lots of hot drinks while the other colleague kept working at the register. The second time the server who told us to take a seat walked back to the counter without paying us any attention, we got up and left. Instead, we grabbed brunch at a café at Palmerston North, just as busy, but we were served within 10 minutes and the food was outstanding. The Herb Farm is definitely off our list now. If you put an event on, you need to make sure you have enough staff to serve the amount of people you expect and make sure that your staff don't give mixed messages, but communicate clearly ...
