The Social Investment focuses on the building of social and economic capital that empowers the regeneration of small, local and rural communities. To inspire, teach, create and guide communities and community based organisations to achieve their vision, goals and aspirations, in a two-way symbiotic relationship. Engage, understand, learn, implement, evaluate, repeat. The Social Investment project is focused on delivering innovative and proven offline and online tools and resources to enable small towns and rural communities to regenerate and build social and economic capital, enable local business to compete on a national and international scale, provide positive career and life pathways and address the antecedents that contribute to self-harm and suicide rates in New Zealand. We believe, a notable cause. The concept involves implementing a range of initiatives to facilitate connection within and between communities, the development of social enterprise business models and career pathways, a central co-work hub of learning, development, vibrancy and cooperation, as well as providing key services such as online education, e-health and e-therapy. So what about outcomes? A range of initiatives are currently being developed that provide both physical and online resources for communities to access. This will enable and empower local people, businesses, entrepreneurs and youth to up-skill, have access to experienced and professional marketing, business and IT specialists, work in a collaborative environment, engage with the entire demographics of a community, provide career pathways and apprenticeships, all of which contribute to a sustainable community that will prosper for all. And why do we do this? Question the status quo, come up with your own ideas and as a community, implement for the good of all. Who said it has to be the way it is? Couldn’t it be better …
