Incompetent and charged like a wounded bull. Do not recommend to others and would not go back myself

Worst service of all time still waiting 11 months later for a part to be returned to me and a call back every time I call to dispute my part they say chris isn't in the office. I'm not invited for a refund apparently as the part wasn't faulty. So.i asked for the part back and got told they needed to get back from whoever it got sent to and they would call me well im still waiting 4months later. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Have been taking our cars to Chris and the team at Williams Automotive for roughly 8 years. Always helpful and friendly. Pricing is reasonable and quality of work is always high.

Failed my car for "rusty rotors and worn brakes", plus worn accessory belts which was quoted at over 500. Rusty rotors caught my attention, as surface rust on the outside is very normal. I ordered new brakes and belts myself, since I get trade discount and they're an easy job. I take off the front wheels and see that the brake linings were only worn halfway, still had plenty to go. The rotors didn't even have a wear lip on the outside. Not happy with this, and I would normally accept the mechanics explanation of that it's hard to see the linings. However as I was leaving, I saw a job sheet on the counter for the exact same thing. A 500 job only cost me 70 for some belts. They were my go-to for WOFs, hence the two star and they were correct about the belts.

My brakes were making a really weird clunking/rubbing sound. I asked what the next steps were and what the charge would be to diagnose, I quote their response "we'll first take off the wheel and have a look and then we can price you up". The next day they look at it and say that my brake shoe is almost fully worn off and 750 to get everything done. I go in to pick it up and they say that I have to pay 100 labor which I wasnt told of before, whatsover and on the contrary was told I'd be priced up after diagnosis. I decided not to go through with the full repair, went to another mechanic later they charged me 50 to have a look which I was fully informed off. I was told that the brake shoe was fully worn by Williams Automotive, although the other mechanic said it wasn't and told me it was safe to drive but would need replacing in a few months, the noise also went away which could have been dust. Absolute rip off, just trying to claim extra money Williams took 100 labor for something that was done in 50 worth with no further repair required, I will be going to Commerce Commission.
