Stayed the night in the cabins behind the hotel. Cabin was clean and tidy. Shared toilet /shower cabin. Beds comfy and shower pressure was great. 50 per night. Would stay again.

Had a lovely one night stay here in this vintage hotel! Price is affordable and room is clean and cosy The burger I had for dinner was delicious too!

We were on our way to Queensland from Te Anau when we encountered a major road closure due to a flood in Southland on 4 February , 2020. After several hours of futile detours, we fled to this quiet little town and were really fortunate to be accommodated in a cabin with a heater and heated blankets. We are grateful for what had been offered to us . A million thanks !

Who’d expect to find such big tasty burgers in the middle of nowhere ?

I stopped here for my friends birthday with 6 of us, my husband was sober dr (Southern country tour - I am in Dunedin). Us girls/guys had a cider and I enjoyed playing fetch with the "knot toy" (to the friendly dog in the bar.) Was a good time here chatting to pub staff too :)

I highly recommend the hotel. I am a traveller a few days ago from North Island and I had dinner tea in Waikaka Hotel, the food is pretty good and we had a happy chatter around and enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere in the hotel. Hope some day visit again. Cheers. Donald!
