There's a very good reason why Boulcott Street Bistro has become a Wellington institution. Excellent food and service. The Sunday roast option is an easy and wise decision if available.

Delicious food and very nice atmosphere. Service was also outstanding. I had the calamari which was nice, especially with the sauce on the side and for my main I had the aged beef fillet which was amazing! For dessert I had the creme brûlée which was also excellent.

Our group of 10 had a wonderful evening at the Boulcott Street Bistro on Saturday night. The service was perfect - the staff were amazing - nothing was too much trouble for anyone and our meal was simply delicious. We all would highly recommend this restaurant. We cant wait to return!

Full disclosure: haven’t eaten here yet. We were walking back to the hotel and just happened upon this joint. We poked our heads in the door and found a very friendly greeting so decided to get a glass of wine at the bar. The vibe was really warm and buzzy but it didn’t feel cramped. The food looked delicious and we made a mental to note to definitely come back for dinner one day. Wine was delicious.

The second time visit Boulcott Street Bistro, the first visit is great but second time obviously eating on a busy Thursday night is the wrong choice. "Tiger prawn" is the same size as my little finger and it's frozen. Too much greasy mayonnaise under the smoked salmon. The steak comes as two-piece 1cm thick and dry, roasted brussels sprouts in confit duck leg is burnt black and bitter. And waiting for these mains takes us around one hour. Two stars for the great services.

Food was great as expected, perfectly cooked with lovely flavors and plated with great attention to detail. The venue is compact but quaint without being stuffy or old fashioned. What really stood out was the service, our waitress was extremely quick and noticed what we needed before we did! She was very friendly without being overly patronizing or fake, and worked hard to keep everyone around us, including a big 60th birthday party, happy at all times. Considering the restaurant appeared totally full, all 3 courses came very fast and drinks were also attended to very quickly. So hats off to the front of house team, very well trained and organized to deliver the best guest experience. Thank you! Keep up the good work.

Finally made it here after many years of living in Wellington. Many friends had rated it as a place to go. On the upside, the atmosphere was nice, the staff were great - attentive and friendly. Unfortunately we found both the starters and main meals bland and tasteless and portions were a bit on the small side, which was a real shame. May have just caught things on a bad night, but no plans to rush back too soon.

Lovely Restaurant with great atmosphere and friendly and quick service. The meals were delicious although the plates looked quiet empty with the small portion size. However we enjoyed our time here :)
