The accusations about Challenge 2000 are similar to what happened with my nephew. He had complex needs and was placed in the care of challenge 2000 a few years back. Sad to say he didn't receive much surport from the house leaders and was mostly left to his own devices...same with the other young people in the house. The so called "leaders" mostly shut themselves away in there rooms and failed to supervise the young people. He had access to alcohol and the drinking culture around the staff was very disappointing and was far from model behaviour. He was offen treated like a burden to them rather than someone who needed support and stability. He was sent back to the exact circumstances he came from with no offered support. I hope this brings some light to a very dark and disappointmenting service. Shame on you.

I second the review from Azzard Asfour. In my experience in being a former young person in their care it's pretty prevalent that if you aren't classed as high risk enough and if the Goverments not offering a lot of money for them to take your case you get pushed aside and overlooked. Speaking to others that have experience with challenge 2000 they state that the house leaders change a lot and you get moved to different youth houses about Wellington offering little to no stability. I hope you can take this review on as you move forward being an employee of the said establishment.
Challenge 2000 is a strong community of people who are engaged in the needs of young people and their families around the Wellington region. As someone who completed the gap year seven years ago, I can say that Challenge has completely changed my life and taught me so much about service, cultural diversity and the ways we can uplift our community though social justice.
Warm caring organisation that has supported many people in need in the greater Wellington area. The gap year programme for school leavers is excellent.
Would give zero if I could. Dont seem to care about the young people in there care and prefer to spend the money they get from the local catholic organizations and the Government meant for young people on themselves and their staff. Instead of housing young people who really need a place in there group homes they place very privileged 'gap year' people in them. Its more like a toxic cult tbh.
It is not great for parking. The staff were helpful
Good meeting space
