The food was delicious and well cooked! It was quite busy, they could have done with another person working as we did have to wait quite a long time for our order to be taken and for our drinks to arrive. That aside, our server and chef were both extremely friendly. We would definitely visit again when in Wellington next.

A fun family eatery with fresh food and a live show of teppanyaki grill cooking. Teppan grilling are typically propane-heated, flat-surfaced, and are widely used to cook food in front of guests at Japanese restaurants. The knife show at these premises are basic, but fun for the family.

Good fresh food, although the place is showing it's age a little. I was presented with a menu that had quite a large scorch mark on it and the fixtures were looking a little tired. On the plus side the food was fresh and tasty and there was a good selection of NZ beers.

Mama Japan

This is NOT Japanese food at all. Can't call this Japanese style, service or food. Throwing food? Food was not served in right order. Cooking plate was not hot enough. Fish stinks and watery. Cook squid /chicken with red wine? Cleaning equipment and boxes were by the window and visible to restaurant patrons. Everything was wrong. Never go there again.

We've been a few times now and while not cheap, it's pretty cool for the spectacle of the large flames, watching the speedy chefs do their thing in front of you, and catching bowels of rice and eggs which is always a crowd pleaser. The food generally tastes good, although I had the steak for the first time and it was incredibly chewy which was very disappointing, so won't have that again. The restaurant extraction fans struggle to keep up with clearing all the cooking smoke and could do with a revamp or some more added to the ceiling to grab the extra smoke the big fans miss. The toilets were "quite disgusting" and not well maintained so need some serious attention, such as fixing the locks on the doors and keeping them clean!! (this from the other people with us)

Love this place!! Went early so only did a little trick with the rice, but have been many times before and the show is good fun! Food is good too! Always come back!
