Loved the meal there it was gorgeous. The presentation service food and location were all top notch. Anything with salmon was amazing. The oysters are very fresh and delicious, as are the clams. The Kingfish was cooked perfectly. All the staff were knowledgeable of the dishes and drinks.

Definitely for those into fine dining. Interesting flavour combinations - almost every bite was a taste explosion. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Went with friends for a birthday dinner and had their tasting menu. All courses were superb. Highlights were the oysters with rhubarb mignonette, smoked kahawai, and rock lobster with fermented tomato. The seaweed butter that came with the bread was fantastic with an oyster-like taste. All dishes were fresh with great contrasting flavors. I had their cheese board, their 3 cheeses were superb. Service was professional and knowledgeable. Great wine list. This is what fine dining is all about.
Whitebait has a great tasting menu and special menus for special occasions like Valentine's day. Anything with salmon was amazing. The oysters are very fresh and delicious, as are the clams. The Kingfish was cooked perfectly. All the staff were knowledgeable of the dishes and drinks.
Very nicely prepared seafood with great flavour pairings. The four course meal was a bit heavy both in terms of size and flavoring for our tastes. Staff was very friendly and professional.
Excellent food. Had the tasting menu, was delicious. Also the wine pairing was good. But taking a bootle would have been cheaper. Anyway, depends what you want. The different courses were delicious. Very friendly stuff.
This is fine dining at its best. With a great location, amazing ambience, friendly service and outstanding food, Whitebait is definitely in the top five restaurants in Wellington in my opinion. The menu is simple but the actual food has complex layers and cleverly put together. The flavours are clean and distinct and very satisfying. Immensely enjoyed our evening and would strongly recommend this restaurant.
The tasting menu at NZD140 per person was good but some bits in the middle did not look attractive attractive. Total bill including wine and cocktails for two was NZD540. I preferred Logan Brown which is rather cheaper but the setting on the quay is attractive although the room itself is a bit bland
