My children love this park. Lots to do and solid old school playgrounds. Train rides on Sundays. Pack a picnic and spend the whole day there. Bbq facilities on site. Water play park for hot days. Skate park on opposite end of park.

Kowhai Park is a great place for kids. They love going there. There's a real train with carriages and both young kids and adults can ride it. Theres a pirate ship and castle plus a water feature for got kids in the summer months. Enjoy when you get to Whanganui.

Blessed and so grateful... sorry for stressed state under duress rather embarrassed naturally. Under bridge by skate park is good. Use to traffic noise. Humbled by tamariki/mokopuna presence and support. LOVE THE MOKOPUNA

Thank you Whanganui council for this awesome spot. The kids playground at Kowhai Park is the best we have seen ever. Well done

Lots of amenities avaliable to freedom campers here, dumping station, toilet and fresh water. Big sign explaining freedom camping rules and information. However I think it's an eyesore that so many campervans are clearly permanent residents. A lot of dogs off leads. And have seen multiple tents pitched when it clearly says no tents. People drinking alcohol and dumping rubbish, not picking up their dog pooh. All in the freedom camping area.

Whanganui council have done a great job in putting these SCC camp sites, but why has there been tents here, cars being slept in all night and today, jet skis and speed boats screaming by at around 30 to 40 knots all afternoon on the river when it is a 5 knot speed limit. Annoying and very dangerous Few have BAs. Who monitors all these
