After so many years of living in Wellington, I've finally made it out for a walk. Some of the steps were hard for the kids, but the trip was great for all. We're planning a couple different walks around the loops, probably with a picnic in hand to refuel along the way.

How many cities in the world can say they have 100 hectares of native forest and this is the only public botanic garden in NZ dedicated to native plants. Easy wheelchair access for some of the walks and there are at least six treks. We did the red trek which is mainly steps and in some places steep which takes you to a waterfall . There is a picnic domain with bbq and a stream with eels, great for family picnics or children birthdays. There is a toilet in the domain area.
Not too far from the town and is very friendly for walking around. I love to see the differences and got to see ferns of many kinds.
An absolutely beautiful park...I found a spot to meditate, in the evening sun... the gentle breeze, the whisper of the swaying trees, the tui's singing their songs... a lot to enjoy... Bliss
Lovely hidden gem in the suburbs of Wellington. Wonderful bird song.
One of the most wonderful gardens in Wellington. Great choice of tracks up to a couple of hours long.
Some nice walkways with interesting diversions. Picnic area with barbies. Lived in Wellington 40 years, ran past it countless times. Who knew?
Great to see the regenerating native forest. The native bird life is amazing.
