Very hard to find anything you're looking for. The ones that you do find are mostly useless books that have no real value to anybody priced at something outrageous like 1500 for a leather-bound book from 1916 that doesn't sound remotely useful to anybody. Well-maintained though.

I've been coming to Rare Books since 1971. What a treasure it has been and is. Some of the best books in my home have been discovered here. Once NZ's best antiquarian retail bookseller. Now no longer able to exist in that really tough incarnation so it has brilliantly redefined it's future. An amazing and wonderful premises.
Wonderful olde world place full of treasures - including the staff - you feel like they might introduce you to Agatha Christie or Indiana Jones.
Awesome book shop. So many great books on two levels! Highly recommend a visit!
In addition to rare and antique books, they also have a range of old postcards, photos, plates (images from old books that haven't survived), maps, and prints. Anah will also ask you about your particular interests and direct your attention to the relevant shelves.
Great place to find early leather bound books, with all in great condition with maps and plates. I’ve just returned from Tanzania with many of the books highlighting the unique wildlife!
I ventured up to the book store and to my surprise there was a large range of rare and early books including pacific culture, and early Antarctica explorations. Fully recommend.
A bit hard to find location. Good selection of rare books.
