Sunrise at a very special place. Something for everyone, cycling and walking track, swimming, fishing, birdwatching, while away the time watching the tide come in and out, total relaxation. What a fabulous place and so close to Auckland

Great place to stay overnight in self contained vehicles Even on stormy nights

Fine except for the wild easterly that came through at 5.00am this morning to wake us up.

Interesting spot for self contained camper stopovers. Unique landscape, heaps of room but not facilities.

Park right by the water. No facilities. Vehicles must be self contained. No dogs as this is beside bird sanctuary.

What’s not to love about a self contained parking spot right on the beach! If you love peace & quiet, except for the roar of the waves & warm winds, this is the spot to hide out, for a couple of days anyway. It’s a DOC freedom camp, and a really long stretch of beach! *No dogs allowed.* There must be 20-30 vehicles here & still spaces for more. Shells, water, birds& views of the coromandel. Gorgeous when the tide is in, mud when it’s out, sadly. I’ve seen crab pots out, so there must be crabs too. Not sure I’d want to swim here, as the current is Really strong the last day or so. Maybe it quietens down when it’s calm weather. In the distance on the other side is farm land. Well worth the drive for a looksee & some R & R. I’ll post some pics when I’m on wifi

Very busy maybe 30 vehicles but long weekend. Location is very exposed but has a wild beauty. Beach front with total mudflats, extensive bike trails through area, wildlife sanctuary nearby.
