I’ve been living here more than a year and this is probably the most beautiful walk I’ve been on. It stretches and hugs the coast along one end of Lake Wakatipu and you have an almost constant view of the waters. You have to do this walk if you love being by the water. One end of this track is at Jack’s Point, while the other end is at Jardine Park near Poplar Drive (in Kelvin Heights). It’s about 7.1km one way, took me close to 2 hours to walk from Jack’s Point to Jardine Park. About 4hrs20min return including a 20min lunch break. The trail at Jack’s Point starts off narrow and very hilly - lots of ups and downs - but 20 minutes into the walk you reach a breathtaking spot with an amazing view. Beyond this point, it’s not worth going further for better views unless you want to do the entire trail all the way to kelvin heights. The trail is also marked as a grade 5 mountain biking trail for experienced bikers only. It is narrow, rocky, with steep inclines and declines, and hazardous corners. At 45min to 1 hour in from Jacks point, the trail widens, and the inclines become more gradual. The whole track is undulating , but it definitely gets easier midway along the track. If you want to start off easy, start from Jardine Park instead - the path is practically flat from there and is definitely more manageable than starting from Jack’s Point. Plus you get the amazing views pretty quickly with minimal effort. Probably a grade 2 mountain biking trail from there.

Driving by Google will take you to a private farm gate. Don't be discouraged. After a public parking lot on the left side of the door, you can walk for 30 minutes to see the view.
Stunningly beautiful scenery, what's not to like? Steep in places but mostly well graded and very manageable if normally fit, do-able in most shoes, including jandals.
Amazing track, moderate difficulty, sweeping view at the top to wakatipu n remarkables. There r so many ppl doing skydiving nearby, just amazing n free place to visit
A not well known beautiful walk not far from Queenstown. Very quiet, amazing views of the lake, Remarkables, Queenstown. Parts follow the land of the golf course and the last bit is on the private access street (no cars) but it really doesn't matter because the rest of the walk is so nice. There's a small beach, accessible via an overgrown path, lots of pointy bushes, so long sleeves did help, but I'm pretty sure they cut it back during summer.
Highly recommend this little hike, just park at the intersection of Maori Jack Rd and Lodge Rd where you will find a little carpark at the start of the track. I would say this track to the top of the hill is easy and it will take around 1hr and 30mins return. (Taking your time with about 45mins up the top to take pics and enjoy the views) i walked it with my 5 month old strapped to me.
Great track across the hill to the shore of Lake Wakatipu.
Amazing hideout jumps
