Peaceful place with level gravel pads on one loop. Another loop/section for tent campers.

After pulling into the designated driveway for this campsite, you'll find a parking lot to your right with 2 wooden platforms for your tent. If you continue up the drive, you meet a fork in the road. Going right will take you to the designated camper van area. Continuing forward is a another fork, where again going right is another area for camper vans and going forward the road becomes increasingly gravelly and harder to manage unless you're in a 4wd vehicle. I found the cost of this campsite a bit steep for a DOC site, considering it had drop toilets in need of servicing, a single sink, and no dump/rubbish stations. A very basic campground against a lovely stream but with the added option of doing a walk nearby.

Lovely spot. Sound of river & birdsong makes for really relaxing time. Nice gentle 30min native bushwalks. By the picnic tables (just b4 camp itself) there's a little track which takes you to the river. Deep enough spot to bathe/wash in. Camp itself usual DOC loo (clean) with cold water sink. Ohakune (2km from camp) quite a nice wee village. There's a New World supermarket there. Lots eating places & decent Information Centre. By the way DoC site says some gravel but actually the road is sealed. Your motor won't get dirty.

Limited space so might need to get there early in peak season. Otherwise very peaceful environment being surrounded by woodland. Good space with picnic tables although no shelter to cook if it's raining.

Two camping areas. One more for tents and the other one vans. Standard toilets but good level camping grounds in a nice spot.

Did not stay here but visited the site. Looks very nice two long drop toilets. You have to pay at the local i-site. Nothing around you. There are two parking areas to camp.

Great option to stay in Ohakune, lots of grass areas, toilets and water. A cooking shelter would be welcomed.
