One of the most exceptional day walks in the country. Put this on your do-do list if you are a keen hiker and in Wanaka. Super stoked to see this walk re-opened after being closed for so long. The new section of track is excellent including a bucket load of new stairs. You should DEFINITELY do the additional 30min to the top - don't just stop at the first look out.

Really good walk. Trails are all in good condition, and the one small section that has some damage is clearly marked. The drive from Wanaka to the car park was straight forward, and although there were 8 fords to cross the mighty Mazda 3 managed it fine, although I think that would very much depend on the time of the year. The extra 30 minutes is definitely worth it, as the views were stunning even in the cloudy and slightly rainy day we did it on. The glacier was still clearly visible and there must have been 15 waterfalls all majestically cascading into the torrent below. You'd need a reasonable level of fitness. But as we were still on our way up we met a 70 year old lady who was on the way down, who said the views from the top were still visible and stunning and well worth the extra effort.... kinda made us think we had to go all the way to the top as this was her 70th birthday walk.

Rob Roy glacier trail is one of the great one day walks in New Zealand (other greats include Tongariro Crossing, Key Summit). It's reasonably hard but not too hard and takes you through a spectacular river valley and to the foot of a juvenile (I guess that's what it's called) glacier. Highly recommend.

Incredibly gorgeous, nice and easy, with a few steep bits, but easily managed

Good hike, paths were clear and mostly concrete. May be a struggle for the elderly but if you can keep on going, the top is something out of this world. I was taken back at the roar of the waterfalls coming off the Glacier. It is gigantic up close and was well worth the hike. Popular to tourists so expect there to be a lot of people heading up and down in peak seasons. Would hike again though

Best effort to reward ratio for an NZ hike. An easy, relatively short hike alongside a stream takes you through the forest and eventually opens up to a valley offering views of waterfalls and glaciers. Recommend to explore beyond the lookout. If you care about your car, it's not the best road to drive it on. There are many small but deep stream crossings which can scrape the underside of the car. You can take a shuttle from Wanaka which gives you plenty of time to do the hike. So much time that it's worth taking a couple of beers while you wait at trail head ;)

Best hike we found in the area. Don't skimp out on the last 30min hike to the top. The views of the waterfalls and glacier are beyond worth it. Fair warning... a lot of travel guides fail to tell you the majority of the drive to the trail head is a dirty road. Again, absolutely worth it, but best to take an SUV if you can. And make sure to take the 10 minute walk up the first couple of waterfalls just before the parking lot.

Gentle sloping walk up a well formed track. Past the aqua blue river through the native forest up to the base of the glacier. 1.5-2hr each way
