The converted hospital is super lovely and cozy and the room was very clean and warm. Jan is an absolute treasure. She was so nice and accommodating to us on our 1 night stay. We will definitely be coming back in the summer!

Stayed just the one night on an unpowered tent site. Lovely location and great character in the old hospital that is used as a lodge now. This accommodation is a bit aged as is probably original, but personally we liked this as had personality. Bathroom was very clean, and shower was part of our price (which we think should always be the case). There were around 50 Samoan guys who live there during the freezing works killing season, and they were absolutely lovely. So kind and friendly. Played darts and pool with them, and when I asked them to lower their music volume on Saturday night as we could hear it at our site, they did this with no complaint. Jan the owner was very helpful and gracious, and she has a cute 3-legged dog that is adorable. So we would recommend this place. A very enjoyable stay.

Cool place! It's in an old school house so the architecture is really neat and there are old uniforms hanging in the game room. Very relaxed vibe and free tea in the tea room hall. Lots of interesting nooks to explore. Hot water is heated from a coal furnace which, while unique, means it is only available at certain times in the day. Def check out the local takeaway place for some awesome burgers and poutine!

An booking for 1 night that we turned into a 3 night stay.. What a great place, a quirky old hospital turned into accommodation. Jan has done a fantastic job. So central to the sights of the top of catlins. Perfect location
