Visited here a couple years ago with my boyfriend. Now we have a little family and often reminisce about how lovely the garden and wine tasting event we went to was! We had a pinot noir rose that was so so tasty. Thank you, from a couple of UK travellers in search of the real NZ wine experience, apologies this review has taken so long.
We were welcome by a lovely cat the moment we stepped in to the restaurant. The owner came to greet us and came to introduce herself with warm welcome. This is also a great cellar door where you can taste wines and join wine tour. I ordered venison fillet for my meal, it was the best meat I've ever had so far, we enjoyed other dishes such as salmon and salad too. highly recommended!
We visited a few wineries today prior to arriving at Lazy dog and Lazy dog was by far the stand out! We throughly enjoyed the gardens and animals that greeted us on our arrival. The service was warm and welcoming despite having arrived near the end of the day. The wine tasting selection was great especially the chenin Blanc.

Family owned and operated, with a cozy welcoming atmosphere. Our favourite part was when the puppies came out! They were third generation Lazy Dogs if I remember correctly. We ordered a charcuterie board with all sorts of delicious meats, cheese and spreads on it. All explained to us by the chef who delivered the board to our table himself. Great little packages of jams and spreads to take away as gifts or travel-sized scone toppers.
Good food. Delicious wines and the service was amazing. Came here last year for our honeymoon and had to come back for our first anniversary. Such a great place to visit.
Beautiful setting and lovely hosts. Wines from 5 different wineries to sample, and a full menu of food. Definitely worth a stop
