Trentham Station was a functional railway station till the Greater Wellington Regional Council and NZR decided to cut down all the established trees and bushes. These trees sheltered passengers from the strong North Westerly winds and rain. Now that trains run late on a regular basis being exposed to the weather for long periods isn't pleasant for commuter customers.
