Well, this is a lovely hidden treasure tucked away up the Waiomu valley, up the road by the river. You drive about a km up the road and through a ford before I parking up and walking further along the private road the start of the track . The track follows the river up the valley crossing about 5 times plus one shallow ford. Then it takes a climb up though the kauri forest before coming to a lovely tranquil seat amongst the kauri. From this point it turns into a hiking trail climbing steeply though lovely old forest to the top of the Coromandel ranges . From there you have a choice of walking to the Tapu/Coroglen Road or towards Themes and Crosbies hut. Really enjoyed this hike though be aware it is a good climb and then a decent distance to the hut. Enjoy

Lovely Bush walk. Repair work soon to be underway. Gravel bags strategically placed along the way.
We love this place. Try and go as often as we can.
Excellent 1/2 day bushwalk to an impressive kauri grove.
Beautiful, gorgeous, serene.
Easy/moderate level 60 minute (/- 15 minute) walk through pasture/bush to Kauri Tree forest. Majestic valuable trees. Follows Waiomu River, and passes through old gold mining sites. Protect our Kauri forests - use the disinfection station on entering and exiting the track.
Beautiful and challenging walking track, amazing views and history to be seen
