WH is a busy place with both commercial and leisure maritime activities on the water itself, plus associated port and recreational activities on the land side. The Wellington Waterfront stretch is the most popular, public part within the city and comprises Queens Wharf, the Walkway, Te Horo section and Clyde Quay. From here the waterfront continues along the ever-so-popular Oriental Parade with its marina, beaches, playgrounds and beyond. Across the harbour you will find boating and other water activities from various water-sport clubs all over greater Wellington, especially once winter is over. At the heart of all WH activity is the traffic from cargo, cruise ships and the ferries (Bluebridge, Interislander, East-by-West). WH is constrained by the surrounding hills on the landward side.
