It's a great walking area. The majority of the walkway is currently closed in 2021 due to some slips.

A gorgeous day on the coast. Wow! Scenery history and fun all rolled into one adventure. Great bike ride. Be aware tho that parts may be closed by slips.

Unfortunately most of the track is closed due to landslide, can walk for 1km which is pleasant.

Currently, this walk is in two sections because a dangerous part is fenced off. The lower section at Ngakawau is an easy pleasant walk along the old railway line. The upper section at Seddonville is steep and requires a long drive along an unsealed road. Both sections contain interesting remnants of its industrial past. Also, both are in bush with fast flowing waterways adjacent. Tramping boots recommended for the top section.

Very nice and well kept walkway, patrolled by the Department of conservation. The guy was even nice to let me park my scooter in a more secure area before I went for my walk. Lovely nature and a beautiful river. Will definitely visit again

Good walk, interesting history but slip blocking track and maintenance required both ends of

We walked to Manganini Falls. The trail is on an abandoned mining railroad track and is an easy walk. Our turn around point was about 1 hr into the trail, which paralleled the Ngakawau River, and was only 1/3 of the total path. In order to see the falls, one must walk over a swing bridge that was built by the Fijian Army for practice in 1970. We walked through several tunnels dug by the miners. Their track was an engineering wonder. Most of the path is covered by dense forest tree tops, joining overhead from both sides of the trail.

Actually one of the best walks our family have done. Perfect for young children.
