Southland District Council manages around 30,979 square kilometres of the Deep South, home to more than 2900 people. We look after most of Southland (excluding Gore & Invercargill which have their own councils). Southland District Council is responsible for the day-to-day running of our communities - looking after water, wastewater, stormwater, rubbish, animal control, cemeteries, environmental health, libraries, parks and reserves and roading.
