Awesome for freedom camping, portaloos were pretty clean. Just the sand flies weren't much fun

Beautiful spot to camp lots of room and nice area down the bottom in the day for a swim

Great little rest/camping ground, just a little ways down from Huka Falls. Has a toilet, washing up area, rope on a tree branch and calm relaxing nature to follow. Very calm scenic area, compared to the very thunderous roar of the Huka Falls, nice to stop and have a little picnic and swim in the river.

Such a lovely location to camp when on a tight budget. Safe respected surrounded by a great bunch of people. Cannot wait to return

Due to internet promotion this gorgeous place is now an overcrowded parking lot with the most disgusting porta-potties. Unless you pull in early to nab a space down by the river, you'll be packed in like sardines with a hundred campervans and tents. However the parking area and reserve down by the water is simply gorgeous, the facilities are clean and the river is spectacular

Very busy but it's school holidays. Don't recommend the swimming if you are not young fit and skilled. I am now too old as I found out.

Area A is closed due to maintenance. Area B is open for camping as of 25,July 2020. It is about 100m from area A toward the Taupo City.
